My shadow company oc Matchstick has gone through a shit ton of bad stuff in her life.

Here’s the sequence of events plus a bit of explanation behind what happened to her when she got tortured after being kidnapped

Trigger warning: mentions of torture, kidnapping, character death, injuries, just bad shit happening to Matchstick and her having no control over anything in her life

- getting stung by a jellyfish and being left alone in a hospital, which created her dislike for medical settings

- her parents leaving her when she was like 15 and she almost became homeless

- her first boyfriend disappearing (possibly a drug related issue )

- her first girlfriend dumping her and then vanishing as well

- getting kidnapped with one of her close friends by some psychos in slasher masks, being tortured and forced to run through a hell maze where she was chased. She escaped and she thought her friend died and she left him behind (don’t worry he lived and he got out too)

- the gang she was in disbanding due to the fact the gang leader died, her best friend telling her to run and that he would be right behind her. SPOILER ALERT! He wasn’t, and he let himself get arrested so she’d get away

- her second girlfriend who she loved with her whole heart and gave a promise ring DYING and Matchstick finding her corpse

And now for the torture bit!

Injuries/torture Matchstick got when she was kidnapped:

- Her mouth was slashed a method to get her to shut up

- She had a knife stabbed through her hand

- Her nails were ripped off

- 4 of her fingers were broken

- She was repeatedly cut

- Had her nose broken

- Her hair was cut off

- She was beaten badly

- Her ankle was broken

- In between these torture sessions she was chased around by people dressed as slashers and then she’d be taken out of this so called hell maze and tortured again.

- This went on for a little over a week before she escaped

All of it was filmed too

After everything that’s happened in her life, Matchstick truly had nothing to live for. She had no one, nothing. She was alone

That’s why she joined the military. To give herself a purpose

Thinking about my DND character

Horror isekai manga called "I was Summoned as the Saintess and Everyone's Obsessed With Me" going the cliche route of the secretly evil saintess having charm powers, except this heroine is not evil, just confused as to why everyone is worshipping them, and then horrified when they realize they can't escape no matter how much they try.

What'd be even better is if the charm takes time to work, so at first people act normal, albeit super polite, and then slowly start giving way to more and more fanatical and extreme acts of devotion.

agatha on the other hand is the snarky girl who gets into arguements with her teacher about the smallest details in the lecture and is constantly getting detention for cursing someone out. she's top of all her classes tho.

The idea that uni protesters are "elitist ivy-league rich kids larping as revolutionaries" on Twitter and Reddit and even here is so fucking funny to me if you actually know anything about the student bodies at these unis. Take it from someone who's going to one of the biggest private unis in the US, 80% of the peers I know are either from the suburbs or an apartment somewhere in America, children of immigrants, or here on a student visa. I've heard about one-percenter students, but I've never met one in person. Like, don't get me wrong, the institution as a whole is still very privileged and white. I've talked with friends and classmates about feeling weird or dissonant being here and coming from such a different background. But in my art program, I see BIPOC, disabled, queer, lower-income students and faculty trying to deconstruct and tear that down and make space every day. So to take a cursory glance at a crowd of student protesters in coalitions that are led by BIPOC & 1st/2nd-gen immigrant students and HQ'd in ethnic housings and student organizations and say, "ah. children of the elite." Get real.
